To meet the requirement of maintaining military discipline and state law in the Southern Military Regions and Corps, on December 17, 1975, the General Staff issued Decision No. 162/TM to establish the Military Prosecutor's Offices in the Southern Military Regions, including the Military Prosecutor's Office for Military Region 7. Since then, December 17 every year is the traditional day of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Military Region 7.
To fulfill its tasks in the new phase, the Military Procuracy of the Military Region continues to strengthen the leadership of the Communist Party at all levels, as this is the decisive factor for the office’s activities efficiency; regularly consolidates the organizational apparatus, builds a team of clean and strong officials and prosecutors; defines the principle of centralized and unified leadership in the prosecutorial sector; promotes the role and responsibility of the leader in implementing functions and duties; constantly innovates working methods in practicing prosecution rights and supervising judicial activities, creating positive changes in performing functions and tasks.
Thus, December 17 is the traditional day of the Military Procuracy of Military Region 7.

According to Article 70 of the Law on Organization of the People's Procuracy 2014, the chief prosecutor of the Military Procuracy of the Military Region and equivalent:
Article 70. Chief prosecutor of the Military Procuracy of the Military Region and equivalent
- The chief prosecutor of the Military Procuracy of the Military Region and equivalent is appointed, dismissed, and removed from office by the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuracy at the proposal of the Chief Prosecutor of the Military Procuracy at the central level.
- The chief prosecutor of the Military Procuracy of the Military Region and equivalent has the following tasks and powers:
a) Directing, managing, and inspecting the execution of duties, work plans, and deciding issues concerning the operations of their level’s military prosecutor's office; responsible for and reporting their level’s military prosecutor's office and lower units to the Chief Prosecutor of the Military Procuracy at the central level; answering questions at the annual Military Personnel Representative Conference organized by the political organization of the military region and equivalent;
b) Directing, guiding, and inspecting the activities of the subordinate regional military prosecutor's offices;
c) Performing other duties, powers as prescribed by law.
- The term of the chief prosecutor of the Military Procuracy of the Military Region and equivalent is 5 years from the date of appointment.
Under the above regulation, the chief prosecutor of the Military Procuracy of the Military Region is appointed, dismissed, and removed from office by the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuracy at the proposal of the Chief Prosecutor of the Military Procuracy at the central level.

- The chief prosecutor of the Military Procuracy at the central level is the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuracy appointed, dismissed, and removed from office by the President at the proposal of the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuracy after consultation with the Minister of National Defense.
- The chief prosecutor of the Military Procuracy at the central level has the following duties and powers:
a) Leading, directing, guiding, and inspecting the implementation of tasks, work plans, and building of the military prosecutor's office; deciding issues concerning the operations of the Military Procuracy at the central level;
b) Reporting the operations of the Military Procuracy to the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuracy and the Minister of National Defense;
c) Proposing that the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuracy appoint, dismiss, and remove from office the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Military Procuracy at the central level; chief prosecutors, deputy chief prosecutors of the Military Procuracy of the Military Region and equivalent, regional military prosecutor's office; prosecutors, investigators of the military prosecutor's office;
