What is the age requirement to be considered for the title “People’s Artist”?
Based on Article 8 of Decree 89/2014/ND-CP, which stipulates the criteria for awarding the title "People's Artist" as follows:
The title "People's Artist" is awarded to individuals specified in Clause 2, Article 2 of this Decree when meeting the following criteria:
Loyalty to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; adherence to the guidelines and policies of the Communist Party, policies and laws of the State; statutes, rules, and regulations of agencies, organizations, and localities;
Possession of good moral character, exemplary conduct in life, dedication to the profession; possessing outstanding artistic talent, representing the art sector; possessing professional reputation; admired by colleagues and the public;
Having at least 20 years of professional artistic activity, except for the Circus and Dance arts, which require at least 15 years of professional artistic activity;
Having been awarded the title "Meritorious Artist" and having at least 02 national Gold awards after being awarded the title "Meritorious Artist."
Other domestic or international Gold awards of an individual or group can be converted to account for individual achievements as stipulated in Appendix II attached to this Decree.
According to these regulations, age is not a requirement when awarding the title "People's Artist". Artists of different ages are considered for this title when meeting the above criteria. However, artists need to pay attention to the duration of professional artistic activity. Even if all other conditions are met, without sufficient time in professional artistic activity, the title cannot be awarded.
