What Foreign Journalists Need to Do to Operate in Vietnam?
According to Article 4 of Decree 88/2012/ND-CP, the regulations are as follows:
- Foreign journalists who wish to engage in information and press activities in Vietnam must submit one set of application documents directly, via mail, fax, or email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic missions, consular offices, or other agencies authorized to perform consular functions of Vietnam abroad (hereinafter collectively referred to as Vietnamese representative offices abroad) at least 10 working days before the intended date of entry into Vietnam.
The application dossier for information and press activities in Vietnam includes:
+ A written request for permission to conduct information and press activities in Vietnam according to the form issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
+ A photocopy of the foreign journalist's passport.
- Within 10 working days from the receipt of the request, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Vietnamese representative office abroad shall respond in writing, either accepting or rejecting the foreign journalist's application. If accepted, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue a Press Activity Permit to the foreign journalist.
- After entering Vietnam, the foreign journalist must go to the journalist guidance agency (the Press and Information Center for Foreign Journalists under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) or another agency authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to receive the Press Activity Permit and be instructed on their activities.
Accordingly, non-resident journalists need to prepare the above documents and application to be granted permission to operate.
Respectfully!
