Is there a limit on the number of times a person can register for marriage in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 8 of the Law on Marriage and Family 2014 regulating marriage conditions:
Article 8. Conditions for Marriage
- A man and a woman may marry each other if they meet the following conditions:
a) The male is full 20 years or older, and the female is full 18 years or older;
b) The marriage is voluntarily decided by the man and the woman;
c) They do not lose civil act capacity;
d) The marriage does not fall under one of the cases in which marriage is prohibited as specified at Points a, b, c and d, Clause 2, Article 5 of this Law.
- The State does not recognize marriage between persons of the same sex.
According to the Law on Marriage and Family 2014, there is no specific limit on the number of times a person can marry, as long as that person meets the following marriage conditions:
[1] Legal age for marriage: Male must be full 20 years or older, and female full 18 years or older
[2] The marriage is voluntarily decided by both parties
[3] They do not lose civil act capacity
[4] The marriage does not fall under any of the prohibited cases as follows:
- Sham marriage, sham divorce
- Underage marriage, forced marriage, marriage by deception, obstructing marriage
- A person who is married, marries or cohabitates like husband and wife with another, or a person who is not married, marries or cohabitates like husband and wife with a person who is married
- Marriage or cohabitation like husband and wife between persons of the same direct blood line; between persons of the three-generation kinship; between adoptive parents and adopted children; between persons who were once adoptive parents and adopted children, between father-in-law and daughter-in-law, mother-in-law and son-in-law, stepfather and stepchild, stepmother and stepchild

How many days of leave with full pay are employees in Vietnam entitled to when they get married?
Pursuant to Article 115 of the Labor Code 2019 regulating private leave, unpaid leave:
Article 115. Private leave, unpaid leave
- An employee is entitled to take private leave with full pay and must notify the employer in the following cases:
a) Marriage: 03 days off;
b) Biological child, adopted child marriage: 01 day off;
c) Biological father, biological mother, adoptive father, adoptive mother; or biological father, biological mother, adoptive father or adoptive mother of the spouse; spouse; biological child or adopted child dies: 03 days off.
- An employee can take 01 day of unpaid leave and must notify the employer when a paternal or maternal grandparent, a sibling by blood dies; biological father or mother remarries; sibling by blood marries.
- In addition to provisions in Clauses 1 and 2 of this Article, the employee may agree with the employer on unpaid leave.
According to the above regulations, an employee who gets married is entitled to 03 days off with full pay and must notify the employer.
