What are regulations on sanitation in organizing funeral for people who died due to dangerous diseases in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 15 of the Circular 21/2021/TT-BYT stipulating sanitation in organizing funeral for people who died due to dangerous diseases in Vietnam as follows:

1. Individuals organizing and participating in funeral must adopt epidemic control measures in accordance with guidance of Ministry of Health.

2. Sanitation of funeral parlors and funeral locations must conform to Clause 1 Article 8 hereof; wastes that make direct contact with the coffin shall be collected and treated in the same manner as infectious wastes.

What are regulations on sanitation in burial and cremation for people who died due to dangerous diseases in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 16 of the Circular 21/2021/TT-BYT stipulating sanitation in burial and cremation for people who died due to dangerous diseases in Vietnam as follows:

1. During burial process, dust lime powder around and in the grave prior to lowering the coffins into the grave. Prior to filling the grave, dust lime powder around and on the coffins.

2. Once burial or cremation process is complete, sanitize and sterilize equipment involved in burial process, transportation to crematoriums, burial grounds, cremation areas with 0,1% activated Chlorine solution, 70% alcohol, or surface disinfectant preparations.

3. Persons engaging in burial and cremation must wear proper personal protective equipment (eyewear, rubber gloves, medical face masks, shoes or boots) throughout the process. Once the work is done, take off personal protective equipment and wash hands with soap or hand sanitizer.

4. Wastes making direct contact with coffins and personal protective equipment shall be collected and treated in the same manner as infectious wastes.

What are regulations on sanitation in bone collecting for people who died due to dangerous diseases in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 17 of the Circular 21/2021/TT-BYT stipulating sanitation in bone collecting for people who died due to dangerous diseases in Vietnam as follows:

Sanitation in bone collecting shall conform to Article 9 hereof.

Pursuant to Article 9 of the Circular 21/2021/TT-BYT stipulating sanitation in bone collecting in Vietnam as follows:

1. Interval between burial and bone collecting: depending on soil quality, traditions, customs, and religion of the locals, interval between burial and bone collecting must not be lower than 36 months.

2. Wastes produced during bone collecting must be collected, transported, and treated in accordance with regulations on waste management.

3. Tools and equipment serving bone collecting must be cleaned thoroughly once bone collecting is done.

4. Individuals performing bone collecting must wear face masks and gloves throughout the process. Upon finishing, wash hands with soap or hand sanitizer.

What are responsibilities for implementation sanitation in burial and cremation in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 18 of the Circular 21/2021/TT-BYT stipulating responsibilities for implementation sanitation in burial and cremation in Vietnam as follows:

1. Responsibilities of Health Environment Management Agency: directing, guiding disseminating, and inspecting implementation of this Circular.

2. Responsibilities of Departments of Health of provinces and central-affiliated cities:

a) directing, guiding, disseminating, and examining implementation of this Circular;

b) taking charge and cooperating with Departments of Natural Resources and Environment in directing entities to inspect sanitation in burial and cremation in their provinces and central-affiliated cities;

c) disseminating, guiding, and mobilizing the community to ensure sanitation in burial and cremation in their provinces and central-affiliated cities;

d) organizing training in epidemic control and handling of corpses of persons who died of dangerous diseases;

dd) allocating resources necessary for sanitation affairs in burial and cremation.
