Pursuant to Article 4 of Decree 145/2013/ND-CP stipulating the major holidays:
Article 4. Major Holidays
The major holidays in the country include:
- Lunar New Year (01 of January, Lunar Calendar).
- Founding Day of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930).
- Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day (10-3 Lunar Calendar).
- Liberation Day of Southern Vietnam, Reunification Day (April 30, 1975).
- Dien Bien Phu Victory Day (May 7, 1954).
- President Ho Chi Minh’s Birthday (May 19, 1890).
- August Revolution Day (August 19, 1945) and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945).
Accordingly, although there are many holidays throughout the year, the law recognizes only 8 major holidays, including:

What are details of the schedule of Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 in Vietnam?
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs issued Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH of 2024 on the observance of the Lunar New Year, the National Day, Victory Day on April 30 and International Labor Day on May 1, 2025, applicable to officials and public employees and workers.
The detailed Lunar New Year 2025 holiday schedule nationwide is as follows:
[1] Officials and public employees and workers of administrative bodies, career organizations, political organizations, socio-political organizations (hereinafter referred to as officials and public employees) will have a holiday during Lunar New Year 2025 from Saturday, January 25, 2025 (26 of the twelfth lunar month of the Giap Thin year) to the end of Sunday, February 2, 2025 (5 of January, At Ty year). This includes 5 days of Lunar New Year holiday and 4 weekend days.
[2] Agencies and units that do not follow a fixed weekend schedule, will arrange their holiday schedule in conformity with the program and specific plans of the unit, in accordance with legal provisions.
[3] For workers not subject to clause 1 of Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH of 2024, employers will decide on the Lunar New Year 2025 holiday plan as follows:
Choose 1 day at the end of the Giap Thin year and 4 days at the beginning of At Ty year or 2 days at the end of the Giap Thin year and 3 days at the beginning of At Ty year or 3 days at the end of the Giap Thin year and 2 days at the beginning of At Ty year.
- Notify workers of the Lunar New Year 2025 holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.
- If a weekly holiday coincides with a holiday stipulated in clause 1 of Article 112 of Labor Code 2019, workers will be granted compensatory leave for the weekly holiday on the next working day as required in clause 3 of Article 111 of Labor Code 2019.
Thus, according to the official Lunar New Year 2025 holiday schedule, officials and public employees will enjoy a continuous 9-day holiday from January 25, 2025, to February 2, 2025 (26 of the twelfth lunar month of the Giap Thin year - 5 of January, At Ty year).
For workers at private enterprises, employers will determine the Lunar New Year 2025 holiday plan as follows: 1 day at the end of the Giap Thin year and 4 days at the beginning of the At Ty year or 2 days at the end of the Giap Thin year and 3 days at the beginning of the At Ty year or 3 days at the end of the Giap Thin year and 2 days at the beginning of the At Ty year.
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs encourages employers to adopt the Lunar New Year 2025 holiday schedule for workers similar to that for officials and public employees.
