Types of Disabilities
Disabilities are classified into types of disabilities as stipulated in Article 2 of Decree 28/2012/ND-CP guiding the Law on Persons with Disabilities. To be specific:
- Mobility disability is a condition of reduced or lost function in moving the head, neck, legs, arms, and body, leading to limitations in movement and mobility.
- Hearing and speaking disabilities are conditions of reduced or lost function in hearing, speaking, or both hearing and speaking, resulting in limitations in verbal communication and information exchange.
- Visual disability is a condition of reduced or lost ability to see and perceive light, colors, images, and objects in normal lighting and environmental conditions.
- Neurological and mental disability is a condition involving disturbances in perception, memory, emotion, behavior control, and thinking, manifested by unusual speech and actions.
- Intellectual disability is a condition of reduced or lost cognitive ability, characterized by slow or inability to think, analyze objects, phenomena, and solve problems.
- Other disabilities are conditions of reduced or lost bodily functions causing difficulties in labor, daily activities, and learning, not belonging to the cases specified in Clauses 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of this Article.
