Majority and Minority Ethnic Groups Determined Based on Which Factors?
According to Clauses 2 and 3, Article 4 of Decree 05/2011/ND-CP on ethnic affairs, the following provisions are stipulated:
- "Minority ethnic groups" are those ethnic groups with a smaller population compared to the majority ethnic group within the territory of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
- "Majority ethnic group" is the ethnic group that constitutes more than 50% of the total population of the country, according to the national census.
- "Regions of minority ethnic groups" are areas where a significant number of minority ethnic groups live together, forming a stable community within the territory of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
- "Minority ethnic groups with very small populations" are ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people.
=> Thus, the identification of minority and majority ethnic groups is based on the population size of the respective ethnic group.
Respectfully.
