Drowning While Rescuing Someone: Is It Possible to Be Honored as a Martyr?
According to Article 17 of Decree 31/2013/ND-CP guiding the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment for People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution, it is stipulated:
Individuals who sacrifice under any of the following circumstances may be considered for martyr recognition, including:
- Courageously rescuing people and state and people's properties;
=> Thus, according to the aforementioned regulation, drowning while rescuing a drowning person may be awarded martyr recognition. Additionally, the law also mandates that the agency, organization, unit, or local government where the individual sacrificed is responsible for preparing the dossier to request martyr recognition.
