Vietnam: Responsibilities of units affiliated to the Ministry of Public Security in the execution of criminal judgments in the community

Article 21 of Circular 65/2019/TT-BCA stipulates the responsibilities of units affiliated to the Ministry of Public Security as follows:

- The Police Department of Custody, Temporary Detention and Criminal Judgment Execution in Community in Vietnam is the focal point to assist the Minister in performing the state management of the execution of criminal judgments in the community nationwide, with the following responsibilities:

+ Advising on the drafting, issuance, and organization to implement documents on mechanisms, policies, and laws regarding the execution of criminal judgments in the community;

+ Directing, guiding, and inspecting the work of executing criminal judgments in the community by police units and localities;

+ Propagating, disseminating, and educating about the laws regarding the execution of criminal judgments in the community;

+ Organizing legal training and professional training on the execution of criminal judgments in the community;

+ Reporting and compiling statistics on the work of executing criminal judgments in the community;

+ Implementing the application of information technology and database management to assist in state management of the execution of criminal judgments in the community;

+ Printing and distributing forms and books on the execution of criminal judgments in the community;

+ Performing the tasks and exercising the powers of the agency managing Criminal Judgment execution under the Ministry of Public Security in the execution of criminal judgments in the community;

+ Performing other tasks in the execution of criminal judgments in the community.

- Units affiliated to the Ministry, within their assigned functions, tasks, and powers, have the responsibility to cooperate with the Police Department of Custody, Temporary Detention and Criminal Judgment Execution in Community in Vietnam in executing criminal judgments in the community; directing and guiding the police forces in localities to perform the tasks of executing criminal judgments in the community and cooperating with the forces of the Criminal Judgment Execution Police and providing judicial assistance in executing criminal judgments in the community.
