Prisoners Serving Life Sentences Are Not Allowed to Receive Money from Acquaintances
Based on Clause 2 Article 3 of the 2019 Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments:
Inmates are individuals who are serving fixed-term imprisonment or life imprisonment.
Based on Point b Clause 1 Article 27 of the 2019 Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments:
- They are protected in terms of life, health, property, and their honor and dignity are respected; they are informed of their rights and obligations, and the internal rules of the detention facilities;
- They are ensured policies on food, housing, clothing, personal living items, and medical care as prescribed; they can send and receive letters, receive gifts and money; read books, newspapers, listen to the radio, and watch television suitable to the conditions of the place where the sentence is being served;
- They can meet and communicate with relatives, representatives of agencies, organizations, or individuals; for foreign inmates, they can have consular visits and contacts.
Thus, for inmates serving fixed-term imprisonment or life imprisonment, policies are in place to ensure they can receive money from others in accordance with the conditions of the place where the sentence is being executed.
