Are murder criminals allowed to use anesthetic drugs during the execution of the death penalty?

Based on Clauses 1 and 2, Article 4 of Decree 43/2020/ND-CP, the regulations on this matter are as follows:

1. The injection drugs used for executing the death penalty include:

a) Anesthetic drugs;

b) Muscle relaxants;

c) Drugs that stop the heart activity.

2. One dosage includes the 03 types of drugs specified in Clause 1 of this Article and is used for one person.

Therefore, irrespective of the crime committed by the criminal, during the execution of the death sentence, the above 3 drugs are used.

What equipment and means are used for executing the death penalty?

Based on Clause 2, Article 5 of the aforementioned Decree, the regulations are as follows:

2. The equipment and means used for executing the death penalty include:

a) A bed with straps used to restrain the person being executed;

b) An automatic drug injection machine with a control button;

c) A heart rate monitor;

d) Screens and devices for monitoring and checking the execution process;

e) Other tools and equipment to serve the execution of the death sentence.
