How Many Kilograms of Rice Are Foreign Inmates Allowed to Consume Per Month?
Based on Clause 1, Clause 5, Article 4 of Decree 120/2017/ND-CP stipulated as follows:
The monthly food standard for detainees includes: 17 kg of average quality rice, 0.5 kg of average quality sugar, 15 kg of vegetables, 0.7 kg of meat, 0.8 kg of fish, 1 kg of salt, 0.75 liters of condiment, 0.1 kg of monosodium glutamate, and fuel equivalent to 17 kg of firewood or 15 kg of coal, 45 kWh of electricity, 3 cubic meters of water to ensure food, drink, and living needs of the detainee.
The food standard for foreign detainees follows the regulations for Vietnamese detainees; in the event that a relevant international treaty of which Vietnam is a member has different provisions, those international treaty provisions will apply; in cases involving other diplomatic reasons, the head of the detention facility will make the decision.
Therefore, under normal circumstances, detainees will receive 17 kg of rice per month. However, if an applicable international treaty of which Vietnam is a member provides otherwise, the provisions of that international treaty will apply. Thus, the food standard for inmates is flexible and can be either greater or less.
Sincerely!
