Embezzling 1 Billion Dong: What Sentence Will Be Faced?

Based on Point a Clause 4 Article 353 of the 2015 Criminal Code stipulates the Crime of Embezzlement of Property as follows:

- Committing the crime in one of the following cases will be subject to 20 years imprisonment, life imprisonment, or the death penalty:

Appropriating property valued at 1,000,000,000 VND or more;

Thus, the act of embezzling property can face a punishment of 20 years imprisonment, life imprisonment, or the death penalty when embezzling property valued at 1,000,000,000 VND.

Note: The death penalty will not be applied if, after being convicted, the perpetrator has voluntarily returned at least three-fourths of the embezzled property and actively cooperates with the authorities in detecting, investigating, and handling the crime or has made significant contributions.
