Proposal for Opening a Personal Payment Account: What Contents are Required?

According to Clause 3, Article 1 of Circular 16/2020/TT-NHNN (Effective from March 05, 2021) stipulates as follows:

The application form for opening a payment account for individuals prescribed by banks and foreign bank branches must include at least the following contents:

- For individuals who are Vietnamese citizens: full name; date of birth; nationality; occupation, title; phone number; citizen identification card number or identification card number or valid passport number; date of issue, place of issue; address of permanent residence and current residence; whether the individual is a resident or non-resident; tax code (if any);

- For individuals who are foreign citizens: full name; date of birth; nationality; occupation, title; phone number; valid passport number, date of issue, place of issue; entry visa (if any); address of residence registration abroad, address of residence registration in Vietnam; whether the individual is a resident or non-resident; tax code (if any);

- In case an individual opens a payment account through a legal representative, in addition to the account holder's information as stipulated in points a and b of this Clause, the customer's application form for opening a payment account must also include information about the legal representative of the customer opening the account, specifically:

+ If the customer's legal representative is an individual, the information about the legal representative shall be implemented according to the stipulations in points a and b of this Clause;

+ If the customer's legal representative is an organization, the information includes: full and abbreviated trade name, headquarters address, transaction address, phone number, fax number (if any), main business activities, and the legal representative of the organization.
