Can individuals who are 15 years old open a bank account?

In Clause 6, Article 1 of Circular 02/2019/TT-NHNN, there are regulations regarding individuals eligible to open a payment account, as follows:

- Individuals aged 18 years and older with full civil act capacity as prescribed by Vietnamese law;

- Individuals aged from 15 years to under 18 years not losing or being restricted in civil act capacity;

- Individuals under 15 years of age, those restricted in civil act capacity, and those losing civil act capacity as prescribed by Vietnamese law may open a payment account through their legal representative;

- Individuals with difficulty in awareness, who are unable to control their behavior as prescribed by Vietnamese law may open a payment account through their guardian.

=> Therefore, according to the above regulation, individuals aged 15 years and older who do not lose or are not restricted in civil act capacity are allowed to open a bank account.
