Spreading Fake, False Information about the Covid-19 Situation on Computer Networks, Telecommunications Networks - What Are the Consequences?
At Section 1 of Official Dispatch 45/TANDTC-PC 2020 concerning the adjudication of crimes related to Covid-19 prevention, it is stipulated:
Persons engaging in activities of disseminating false information, misinformation, or distorted information about the Covid-19 epidemic situation on computer networks or telecommunications networks, causing adverse public opinion, shall be prosecuted for the crime of illegal transmission or use of computer network or telecommunications network information as prescribed in Article 288.
=> Therefore, if someone disseminates false or misleading information about the Covid-19 epidemic situation on computer networks or telecommunications networks, causing adverse public opinion, they will be held criminally liable for the Crime of Illegal Transmission or Use of Computer Network or Telecommunications Network Information Article 288 of the 2015 Penal Code.
