Regulations on the Working Hours in a Day for Prisoners
According to current legislation, inmates are allocated Saturdays for studying and vocational training and are entitled to rest on Sundays, public holidays, and Tet in accordance with the law.
As stipulated in Clause 1, Article 29 of the Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments 2010:
Inmates are organized to work commensurate with their age and health to meet management, education, and community reintegration requirements; they are entitled to rest from work on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and Tet in accordance with the law. The time for inmates to work and study, including vocational training, shall not exceed 08 hours in a day. In case of emergencies or seasonal work, the Superintendent of the prison may require inmates to work overtime but not to exceed 02 hours in a day. If inmates work overtime or work on Saturdays or Sundays, they shall receive compensatory rest or remuneration in cash or kind.
