How Many Hours Can a Person in Temporary Detention Meet Their Relatives?

Persons in temporary detention are allowed to meet with relatives once during the detention period, once during each extension of detention, including weekends, each meeting not exceeding one hour.
Persons in temporary custody are allowed to meet with relatives once a month, during working hours, each meeting not exceeding one hour. The head of the detention facility determines the specific time for persons in temporary detention or custody to meet their relatives.
In case a person in temporary detention is transferred to temporary custody or if the temporary custody duration is less than one month during that month, a meeting with relatives is still allowed once.
The head of the detention facility shall issue a written decision on visiting relatives, specifying the time to meet relatives, the managing officer during the visit, and send the decision to the agency handling the case. Each person in temporary detention or custody is allowed to meet no more than three relatives per visit; other cases are decided by the head of the detention facility.
Thus, based on the above regulations, persons in temporary custody are allowed to meet with relatives once a month during working hours. Each meeting does not exceed one hour.
Note: Relatives visiting must present one of the following identification documents:
- Identity card, passport, citizen identification card, certification as an officer, soldier, or employee of the People's Army, People's Public Security, children under 14 years old must have a birth certificate;
- Documents confirming the relationship with the person in temporary detention or custody. In the absence of documents proving the relationship, a request form with certification from the People's Committee or competent authority is required; if the visitor does not have an identification document, the visit request form must have a photo attached and stamped overlapping the photo.
