Can a Person Suffering Only from Emotional Damage be Considered a Victim in a Criminal Case?
Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 62 of the Criminal Procedure Code 2015, the provisions are as follows:
The victim is an individual who directly suffers physical, mental, or property damage, or an agency or organization that suffers property or reputation damage caused or threatened to be caused by a crime.
Thus, identifying the victim in a criminal case does not only pertain to physical or property damage but also covers mental harm. Therefore, if only mental harm is suffered, the individual will still be considered a victim in the criminal case when brought to court.
Sincerely!
