Pursuant to Clause 4, Article 9 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP stipulating regulations on classification of health as follows:
4. How to classify health
Based on the score for 8 criteria recorded in the military service health card to classify, specifically as follows:
a) Type 1: 8 indicators all achieve 1 point;
b) Category 2: There is at least 1 criterion with score 2;
c) Category 3: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 3;
d) Category 4: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 4;
dd) Category 5: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 5;
e) Category 6: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 6.
In Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP, there are regulations on health standards in military recruitment as follows:
3. Health standards:
a) Selection of citizens with health grade 1, 2, 3 according to the provisions of Joint Circular No. 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP dated June 30, 2016 of the Minister of Health - Minister of Health The National Defense stipulates the medical examination for the performance of military service.
b) For agencies, units and positions specified at Point b, Clause 2 of this Article, selection shall be carried out to ensure that they meet their own criteria according to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense.
c) Do not call for enlistment into the Army for citizens who have type 3 refractive errors in their eyes (nearsightedness of 1.5 diopters or more, farsightedness of various degrees); drug addiction, HIV infection, AIDS.
According to current regulations, when you have astigmatism, you will be ranked at a score of 6 in the rating scale, which means your health will be in category 6. The military service health selection criteria only recruit citizens with health categories 1, 2, 3. Therefore, when you have astigmatism of all kinds, you are not eligible for enlistment.

Pursuant to Article 115 of the Labor Code in 2019 stipulating personal leave, unpaid leave as follows:
1. An employee is entitled to take a fully paid personal leave in the following circumstances, as long as it is notified to the employer in advance:
a) Marriage: 03 days;
b) Marriage of his/her biological child or adopted child: 01 day;
c) Death of his/her biological or adoptive parent; death of his/her spouse’s biological or adoptive parent; death of spouse, biological or adopted child: 03 days.
2. An employee is entitled to take 01 day of unpaid leave and must inform the employer in the case of the death of his/her grandparent or biological sibling; marriage of his/her parent or natural sibling.
3. The employee may negotiate with his/her employer on taking unpaid leave other than the leave stipulated in Clause 1 and Clause 2 of this Article.
As regulations above, an employee is not entitled to take a fully paid personal leave when he returns to his hometown for medical check-ups for military service.
What are regulations on military service medical prequalification in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 5 Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP stipulating regulations on military service medical prequalification in Vietnam as follows:
1. Health prequalification is conducted by the commune health station under the professional direction of the district health center.
2. Health prequalification content
a) Detect cases of physical inadequacy, deformity, deformity and diseases eligible for exemption from military service registration;
b) Take personal and family medical history.
3. Health prequalification process
a) Based on the plan on selection and summoning of citizens for military service of the local military service council, make a list of subjects who are citizens eligible for medical examination to perform military service in the area eligible for military service. management assignment;
b) Organize health pre-qualification according to the content specified in Clause 2 of this Article;
c) Complete and confirm personal medical history and information of citizens called for medical examination for military service as prescribed in Section I, Form 2, Appendix 4 issued together with this Circular;
d) Make a list of citizens suffering from diseases on the List of diseases exempt from military service registration according to Table 3, Appendix 1 issued together with this Circular, and report to the Communal Military Service Council;
dd) Summarize, make statistics and report on the results of health pre-qualification according to Forms 2 and 5b, Appendix 5 issued together with this Circular.
As regulations above, medical prequalification for military service will be carried out in accordance with the above provisions.
