What is the required area for a pharmacy meeting GPP standards?
The area of a pharmacy that meets GPP standards is specified in Section II, Appendix I-1b, Circular 02/2018/TT-BYT on Good Practice Guidelines for Retail Drugstores, issued by the Minister of Health. To be specific:
The area should be suitable for the scale of business but must be at least 10m², and must have sections for displaying and storing drugs, as well as an area for customers to interact and exchange information about drug use with the retailer;
Additional areas must be arranged for other activities, such as:
- An area for repackaging drugs that no longer have packaging directly contacting the drugs for direct sale to patients;
- A separate storage area for drugs (if necessary);
- A room or a separate area for advising customers/patients.
In case of selling additional products like cosmetics, functional foods, or medical instruments, a separate area is required, distinct from drug displays, and must not affect the drugs; the area should have a sign stating clearly, "This product is not a drug."
=> Thus, according to the above regulations, the area of a pharmacy achieving GPP standards must be suitable for the scale of business with a minimum area of 10m².
Sincerely.
