What are duties of a sports senior coach in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Clause 1 Article 4 of the Circular 07/2022/TT-BVHTTDL (effective from 10/12/2022) stipulating duties of a sports senior coach in Vietnam as follows:

a) Assume the prime responsibility for formulating long-term, medium-term and annual work plans on sport development; training plans and programs of national sports teams, youth teams and sports teams of provinces, central-affiliated cities, branches;

b) Preside over or participate in the selection and management of athletes; direct technical, tactical, physical training, psychological and will training for athletes; direct athletes in charge of participating in national and international sports competitions;

c) Preside over and organizing the research and application of science and technology and modern training methods in the selection and training of athletes;

d) Be responsible for implementing regulations on ensuring safety and hygiene in training, competition, medical examination for athletes;

dd) Actively research and improve methods to improve the quality of training;

e) Forecast the ability to develop sports achievements, the ability to achieve competitive achievements of athletes under their charge;

g) Coordinate the implementation of political and ideological education, moral qualities, and cultural learning for athletes; take care of the spiritual life, health, nutritious diet according to the training and competition requirements of the sport, accommodation and rest conditions, helping athletes have good health to practice and compete.

What are standards of training and retraining qualifications of sports senior coaches in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Clause 2 Article 4 of the Circular 07/2022/TT-BVHTTDL (effective from 10/12/2022) stipulating standards of training and retraining qualifications of sports senior coaches in Vietnam as follows:

a) Have a university degree or higher with a training discipline or major relevant to the discipline or field of physical training and sport;

b) Possess a certificate of training in standards for professional titles of public employees specialized in physical training and sports.

What are standards of competence, expertise and professionalism of sports senior coaches in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Clause 3 Article 4 of the Circular 07/2022/TT-BVHTTDL (effective from 10/12/2022) stipulating standards of competence, expertise and professionalism of sports senior coaches in Vietnam as follows:

a) Firmly grasp the guidelines and guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State on physical training and sports and develop high-achievement sports;

b) Understand of physical education theory and methods, sports training theory; firmly grasp and regularly update techniques, tactics, technical and tactical development trends of the sport in the country and in the world;

c) Understand knowledge about education, psychology, biomedicine, exercise and sports, nutrition, use of complementary medicine and regulations on doping prevention and control in sports training and competition;

d) Master and properly apply the rules of the sport's competition; the charter, organization and operation regulations of the national and international sports federations;

dd) Know first aid for injuries to athletes in sports practice and competition;

e) Be Capable of directing and organizing coordination with colleagues in professional activities in order to improve the quality of sports training;

g) Have basic information technology skills, use foreign languages ​​or using ethnic minority languages ​​for public employees working in ethnic minority areas according to job position requirements.

What are requirements for public employees to participate in the exam or consider for promotion to the professional title of sports senior coach in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Clause 4 Article 4 of the Circular 07/2022/TT-BVHTTDL (effective from 10/12/2022) stipulating requirements for public employees to participate in the exam or consider for promotion to the professional title of sports senior coach in Vietnam as follows:

a Have held the professional title of main coach (class II) or equivalent for full 06 years or more. In case of equivalent duration, at least 01 year (full 12 months) is required to hold the professional title of main coach (class II) by the deadline for submitting the application for registration for competition or consideration for promotion;

b) During the time of holding the professional title of main coach (class II) or equivalent, he has directly coached and trained athletes to achieve at least one of the following achievements: medal at the Eastern Sports Festival; South Asia, Southeast Asian Para Games, Asian Games, Asian Para Games, Youth Olympic Games, Southeast Asian regional championships, Asia, the world or qualified to participate in the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games.
