Vietnam: Is administering vaccines for COVID-19 mandatory?
In Clause 1, Article 2 of Resolution 21/NQ-CP of 2021, regulations regarding prioritized and free vaccination groups are specified. As follows:
a) Frontline forces in pandemic prevention and control, including:
- People working in healthcare facilities;
- People participating in pandemic prevention and control (Members of the pandemic prevention and control committees at all levels, people working in quarantine zones, performing tracing tasks, epidemiological investigations, community-based COVID-19 groups, volunteers, reporters...);
- Military; Police.
b) Employees and diplomatic officers of Vietnam assigned to work abroad; customs officers, and immigration officials;
c) Providers of essential services: aviation, transportation, tourism; providers of electricity and water services...;
d) Teachers, people working in educational and training institutions; people working in administrative agencies and units who frequently come into contact with many people;
e) Individuals with chronic diseases, those over 65 years of age;
g) People living in epidemic areas;
đ) The poor, individuals under social welfare policies;
h) Individuals appointed by competent state agencies to work, study, or labor abroad.
i) Other subjects as decided by the Ministry of Health based on pandemic prevention and control requirements.
=> Thus, according to the above regulations, the COVID-19 vaccination is not yet universally administered but selected for certain groups.
