Technical Regulations of Reflective Road Studs and Road Guard Walls
According to Section 61.4, Article 61 of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 41:2019/BGTVT on Road Signs, the technical regulations of reflective road studs are as follows:
61.4. Reflective Road Studs
61.4.1. Reflective road studs along the road shall be arranged as follows:
a) On highways:
+ Arranged on channelizing markings at the tips of the diverging and merging islands. In this case, reflective road studs should be used from the real tip of the island (solid island) to the end tip marked with paint, with a maximum spacing of 6 meters between the studs.
+ Reflective road studs can also be arranged on the markings separating the main carriageway from the emergency stop lanes.
b) On roads with more than 2 lanes in each direction without a fixed divider, a row of reflective road studs can be arranged at the centerline of the road, between the lane division or edge road markings.
c) For roads with 2 lanes, consideration should be given to arranging reflective road studs at the centerline combined with lane markings, particularly on roads in mountainous areas, winding passes, areas with heavy fog, and limited visibility. If necessary, reflective road studs can be installed along the edge of the carriageway.
61.4.2. Yellow reflective road studs can be used transversely at positions where the road surface suddenly dips or rises and on stopping lines where pedestrian crossings intersect without traffic light signals.
61.4.3. Reflective road studs must not protrude more than 2.5 cm above the road surface.
Technical Regulations of Road Guard Walls
According to Article 62 of this Regulation, the technical regulations of road guard walls are as follows:
62.1. Guard walls can be built to replace guideposts. Guard walls that replace guideposts should be fitted with reflective devices or painted with reflective paint according to the regulations on the arrangement of reflective devices and road markings (vertical markings) as stated in this Regulation;
62.2. Guard walls must be at least 0.2m - 0.3m thick and at least 0.5m above the shoulder of the road.
