Principles for Preventing the Spread of Covid-19
According to the Guidelines for care of patients with acute respiratory infections caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus in medical examination and treatment facilities issued together with Decision 1125/QD-BYT in 2021, the content is regulated as follows:
Principles of infection prevention:
- Implement standard precautions: All healthcare workers operating in the isolation area must wear full and proper personal protective equipment. This is the most important measure in preventing infection for healthcare workers.
- Implement contact and droplet transmission precautions during the examination and care of individuals infected or suspected of being infected with SARS-CoV-2.
- Implement airborne transmission precautions when performing aerosol-generating procedures on individuals infected or suspected of being infected with SARS-CoV-2.
- Ensure respiratory hygiene for all patients and healthcare workers in the isolation treatment area.
- Maintain proper ventilation and environmental hygiene in patient rooms and isolation areas.
- Minimize patient transportation. Attempt to use bedside techniques (X-ray, ultrasound, etc.), and if transportation is necessary, notify the destination prior to transfer. Patients must wear medical masks during transport; utilize pre-designated transport routes to minimize exposure to healthcare workers and other patients.
- Absolutely prohibit family members from caring for isolated patients, except in cases involving newborns and young children; family members must strictly adhere to infection prevention measures.
- Patient care equipment and instruments: Should be used for individual patients only. If sharing is unavoidable, clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment before use on another patient.
Sincerely!
