Order of Priority in Providing Free HIV Antiretroviral Medication for Infected Individuals

In Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 28/2018/TT-BYT, which stipulates the management of treatment for people infected with HIV and those exposed to HIV at medical facilities issued by the Minister of Health, effective from January 1, 2019, the order of priority for providing free HIV antiretroviral drugs to infected individuals is specified as follows:

- Children from the age of 6 to under 16 years infected with HIV;

- HIV-infected individuals actively participating in HIV/AIDS prevention and control;

- HIV-infected individuals in especially difficult circumstances;

- HIV-infected individuals in prisons, detention centers, compulsory education institutions, reform schools;

- Other individuals infected with HIV.

**Note: In cases where the above-mentioned subjects hold health insurance cards and are not receiving free HIV antiretroviral drugs from the state budget or aid, the Health Insurance Fund shall cover the costs.
