Kidney Disease: Does It Exempt One from Military Service?
According to Point a, Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP, only citizens with health standards of type 1, 2, or 3 are selected to perform military service.
Based on the provisions of Clause 4, Article 9 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, the classification of health is based on the scores assigned to 8 criteria recorded in the military service health assessment form. To be specific:
- Type 1: All 8 criteria score 1;- Type 2: At least 1 criterion scores 2;- Type 3: At least 1 criterion scores 3;- Type 4: At least 1 criterion scores 4;- Type 5: At least 1 criterion scores 5;- Type 6: At least 1 criterion scores 6.
In item 137, sub-item 9, Section II, Annex 1 issued together with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, the standards for classification based on illnesses for kidney and urinary diseases are specified as follows:
No. | ILLNESS | SCORE |
---|---|---|
137 | Kidneys, urinary system: | |
- Acute kidney diseases such as: Acute glomerulonephritis, acute pyelonephritis, acute tubular nephritis newly recovered, not exceeding 6 months | 5 | |
- Chronic kidney diseases: Chronic glomerulonephritis with nephrotic syndrome, chronic renal failure due to various causes | 6 |
Thus, in the case of your child having chronic kidney disease (including chronic glomerulonephritis with nephrotic syndrome), they will have type 6 health. Therefore, your child does not meet the health conditions to participate in military service.
Sincerely!
