Is it permissible to travel abroad to donate a kidney?
According to Clause 2, Article 3 of the Law on donation, removal, transplantation of human tissues, organs, and donation of bodies 2006, a human body part is a portion of the body formed from different types of tissues to perform certain physiological functions.
=> Thus, under this regulation, a kidney is a human body part.
Additionally, Clause 2, Article 34 of the Law on donation, removal, transplantation of human tissues, organs, and donation of bodies 2006 states the following:
Vietnamese citizens are only allowed to go abroad to donate a human body part in cases where there is a direct bloodline relationship or kinship within three generations with the recipient.
=> Thus, according to this regulation, you will not be allowed to go abroad to donate a kidney to your friend. However, if the person has a direct blood relationship or kinship within three generations with you, you will be allowed to donate.
Sincerely!
