      According to Table 2, Appendix I issued together with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP stipulating the criteria for classifying health by disease as follows:

      O-shaped, X-shaped bow legs:

      - Mild (5 - 10 degrees); does not affect walking, running or insignificant effect

      - Moderate (under 15 degrees); walking, running and jumping has little effect

      - Severe (over 15 degrees); often accompanied by deformities in the legs and feet, affect motor function

      In addition, according to Clause 3 Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP stipulating health standards for military recruitment as follows:

      a) Selection of citizens with health grade 1, 2, 3 according to the provisions of Joint Circular No. 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP dated June 30, 2016 of the Minister of Health - Minister of Health The National Defense stipulates the medical examination for the performance of military service.

      b) For agencies, units and positions specified at Point b, Clause 2 of this Article, selection shall be carried out to ensure that they meet their own criteria according to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense.

      c) Do not call for enlistment into the Army for citizens who have type 3 refractive errors in their eyes (nearsightedness of 1.5 diopters or more, farsightedness of various degrees); drug addiction, HIV infection, AIDS.

      As regulations above, if you have bow legs, your health score will be at 4, 5 or 6. However, the law only requires military recruitment for citizens with health grade 1, 2, 3 according to the provisions of the Circular. Joint Circular No. 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP .

      According to Clause 4 Article 9 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP stipulating how to classify health for performing military service as follows:

      Based on the score for 8 criteria recorded in the military service health card to classify, specifically as follows:

      a) Type 1: 8 indicators all achieve 1 point;

      b) Category 2: There is at least 1 criterion with score 2;

      c) Category 3: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 3;

      d) Category 4: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 4;

      dd) Category 5: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 5;

      e) Category 6: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 6.

      As regulations above, your health will be classified according to the above regulations. The type of health will be classified based on the lowest health score in the 8 criteria recorded in the military service health card.

      What are regulations on medical examination forms for military service in Vietnam?

      According to Article 11 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP stipulating the military service health card as follows:

      1. Contents of military service health card

      a) Part I - Curriculum Vitae and medical history:

      - The curriculum vitae recorded by the Commune Military Command;

      - Medical history: recorded and responsible by the commune health station.

      b) Part II - Health examination: written in the left half by the district military service health examination council and the right half by the military unit's health examination council.

      2. Military service health card management

      a) Before enlistment, the military service health card is managed by the district military command board;

      b) When a citizen enlists in the army, the military service health card is assigned to the receiving unit and managed at the regimental line and the equivalent;

      c) Leaving the army, handing over the district Military Command for management.

      3. The military service health card is only valid when:

      a) In accordance with the prescribed form;

      b) Write with a pen or ballpoint pen, not with a pencil;

      c) The handwriting is clear, not erased, not abbreviated;

      d) Complete the contents specified in the health card for military service;

      dd) Not more than 06 (six) months from the date the Military Service Medical Examination Council has a conclusion about the health status, except for the case of special health developments.
