Is a Vietnamese citizen required to apply for the replacement of a health insurance card when replacing an ID card with a chip-based citizen ID card?
According to Clause 1, Article 19 of the Law on Health Insurance 2008 regarding the replacement of health insurance cards in Vietnam:
A health insurance card in Vietnam may be replaced in the following cases:
- It is torn, rumpled or damaged:
- The registered primary care provider is changed;
- The information printed in the card is incorrect:
The information on the health insurance card includes the name, date of birth, gender, and address of the health insurance participant. Therefore, the information on the health insurance card in Vietnam does not include the ID card number.
Therefore, the replacement of an ID card with a chip-based citizen ID card will not affect the information on the health insurance card. Hence, in this case, you do not need to follow procedures for replacing the health insurance card.
