Is a person working at a general hospital for 9 months eligible to be granted a nursing professional certificate in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 17 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in 2009 stipulating as follows:

Article 17. Applicants for medical practice certificates

1. Doctors, assistant doctors.

2. Nurses.

3. Midwives.

4. Technicians.

5. Herbalists.

6. Owners of family herbal remedies or treatment methods.

As regulations above, you are one of the subjects for issuance of medical practice certificates.

Pursuant to Clause 2 Article 18 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in 2009 stipulating as follows:

Article 18. Conditions for Vietnamese to obtain a medical practice certificate

2. To possess a written certification of the practice duration, except for herbalists and owners of herbal remedies or treatment methods.

Pursuant to Clause 1.d Article 24 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in 2009 stipulating as follows:

Article 24. Certification of the practice duration

1. Before obtaining a medical practice certificate, holders of professional diplomas in health granted or recognized in Vietnam must practice at the following medical examination and treatment establishments for:

d/ 9 months at medical examination and treatment establishments, for nurses and technicians.

According to regulations above, in your case, you belong to the group of individuals eligible for a practice certificate. You have also fulfilled the required duration of practical experience in a medical examination and treatment facility, which is 9 months. Therefore, you may be granted a medical preactice certificate. However, you need to meet all the conditions stated in Article 18 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in 2009. If you meet these conditions, you will be granted the certificate.

What are conditions for Vietnamese to obtain a medical practice certificate?

Pursuant to Article 18 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in 2009 stipulating as follows:

Article 18. Conditions for Vietnamese to obtain a medical practice certificate

1. To possess any of the following diplomas and certificates relevant to the form of medical practice:

a/ Professional diplomas in health granted or recognized in Vietnam:

b/ Certificates of herbalists;

c/ Certificates of owners of herbal remedies or treatment methods.

2. To possess a written certification of the practice duration, except for herbalists and owners of herbal remedies or treatment methods.

3. To possess a health certificate for practicing medical examination and treatment.

4. Not to fall into cases of being banned from professional practice or work related to the medical or pharmaceutical profession under court rulings or decisions; being examined for penal liability: serving penal sentences or rulings of courts or administrative sanction decisions on confinement to educational or medical treatment establishments: being disciplined by caution or a higher level related to professional medical examination and treatment; or losing civil act capacity or having civil act capacity restricted.

As regulations above, in order to be granted a medical practice certificate, the applicant must meet all 4 conditions stated in Article 18 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in 2009. Only then will they be granted the medical practice certificate.
