How Much Financial Aid is Provided for Donating Human Organs?
In Article 17 of the Law on Donation, Removal, and Transplantation of Human Tissues, Organs, and Donation of Bodies 2006, the benefits for individuals who have donated tissues and organs are specifically stipulated as follows:
- Individuals who have donated tissues are entitled to free healthcare and recovery services immediately after the donation at a medical facility.
- Individuals who have donated organs are entitled to the following benefits:
+ Free healthcare and recovery services immediately after donating organs at a medical facility and periodic free health check-ups;
+ Issuance of a free health insurance card;
+ Priority for tissue and organ transplantation when indicated by a medical facility;
+ Award of a Commemorative Medal for Public Health as stipulated by the Minister of Health.
- The Minister of Finance specifically stipulates the financial policies regarding periodic health check-ups and the issuance of health insurance cards for individuals who have donated organs.
=> Hence, according to the above provisions, there is no provision for organ donors to receive any monetary allowance. However, they will enjoy the aforementioned benefits as stipulated.
