HIV Testing: How Long Does It Take to Receive Results?
In Article 4 of Circular 02/2020/TT-BYT stipulating the procedures and responsibilities for informing positive HIV test results issued by the Ministry of Health, it is regulated:
The notification of positive HIV test results must be carried out within 72 hours from the time the person responsible for notifying the test results at the place where the patient's sample was taken receives the Test Result Form, except for the following cases:
- The person being tested for HIV does not come to receive the test results.
- The person being tested for HIV is unable to receive information about their positive HIV status due to health reasons; the person responsible for notifying the positive HIV test results chooses an appropriate time to inform the person being tested.
=> Therefore, according to the regulations, the notification of the positive HIV test results must be carried out within 72 hours from the time the person responsible for notifying the test results at the place where the patient's sample was taken receives the positive HIV Test Result Form unless the person being tested does not receive the results or is unable to receive the information.
