Drug Addiction Requires Rehabilitation; What About Alcohol Addiction?
Currently, the law does not provide any regulations regarding mandatory alcohol rehabilitation, and in the case you mentioned, where your father has been an alcoholic for years, you, as a family member, and the other family members may encourage and assist your father in alcohol rehabilitation specifically as follows:
Based on Article 34 of the Law on Prevention and Control of Harmful Effects of Alcohol and Beer 2019, which regulates the responsibilities of families in preventing and controlling the harmful effects of alcohol and beer, as follows:
Educate, supervise, and remind members under 18 not to drink alcohol or beer, and other family members to limit their alcohol and beer consumption; encourage and assist family members who are addicted to alcohol and beer in their rehabilitation efforts.
Guide family members on skills to refuse alcohol and beer; skills to recognize, handle, and manage situations involving intoxicated or alcoholic persons; and implement measures to prevent and control the harmful effects of alcohol and beer.
Participate with agencies, organizations, and the community in efforts to prevent and control the harmful effects of alcohol and beer.
Sincerely!
