Are individuals over 65 years old eligible to receive the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine?
According to Section II.2 of the Interim Guidance on Screening Before Vaccination with COVID-19 Vaccine by AstraZeneca, issued with Decision 1624/QD-BYT in 2021, the provisions are as follows:
Postponement of vaccination applies to:
- Persons suffering from acute diseases.
- Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.
- Individuals with compromised immune response, end-stage cancer, or decompensated cirrhosis.
- Those who have undergone high-dose corticosteroid treatment (equivalent to prednisolone ≥ 2 mg/kg/day for ≥ 7 days), or chemotherapy, or radiotherapy within the past 14 days.
- Those who have received immunoglobulin treatment or convalescent plasma from COVID-19 patients within the past 90 days.
- Those who have received another vaccine within the past 14 days.
- Those who have contracted COVID-19 within the past 6 months.
- Individuals over 65 years of age.
- Those with thrombocytopenia and/or coagulation disorders.
Thus, individuals over 65 years of age fall within the group that postpones the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination.
Sincerely!
