What is Industrial Wastewater?
According to Clause 2, Article 2 of Decree 53/2020/ND-CP (effective from July 1, 2020), the definition of industrial wastewater is stipulated as follows:
Industrial wastewater is wastewater from factories, locations, and production, processing establishments (hereinafter collectively referred to as establishments) of organizations, households, and individuals, including:
- Production and processing establishments: agricultural products, forestry products, aquatic products, food, alcohol, beer, beverages, tobacco.
- Livestock and poultry farming establishments on a farm scale according to the law on livestock; slaughterhouses for livestock and poultry.
- Aquaculture establishments required to prepare environmental impact assessment reports or environmental protection plans.
- Handicraft production establishments in craft villages.
- Establishments: tanning, leather recycling, textiles, dyeing, garment.
- Establishments: mining, mineral processing.
- Production establishments: paper, pulp, plastics, rubber; components, electrical and electronic equipment.
- Establishments: mechanical engineering, metallurgy, metal processing, machinery and spare parts manufacturing.
- Establishments: preliminary waste processing, ship dismantling, ship cleaning, waste treatment.
- Establishments: basic chemicals, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, plant protection drugs, building materials, office supplies, household goods.
- Clean water plants, power plants.
- Centralized wastewater treatment systems in urban areas.
- Centralized wastewater treatment systems in industrial zones, industrial clusters, export processing zones, economic zones, fishing ports, high-tech zones, and other zones.
- Other production and processing establishments that generate wastewater from production and processing activities.
