Rights and Obligations of Citizens in the Prevention and Combat of Corruption - Latest Update
On November 20, 2018, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during its 14th tenure, at the 6th session, passed the Law on Anti-Corruption No. 36/2018/QH14 (referred to as the 2018 Anti-Corruption Law).
The 2018 Anti-Corruption Law stipulates the prevention and detection of corruption; handling corruption and other acts violating the law on anti-corruption.
According to the provisions of Article 5 of the 2018 Anti-Corruption Law (effective from July 1, 2019), the rights and obligations of citizens in anti-corruption are specifically stipulated as follows:
- Citizens have the right to detect, report, denounce, disclose information about acts of corruption and are protected and rewarded according to legal regulations; have the right to petition state agencies to improve the law on anti-corruption and supervise the implementation of anti-corruption law.
- Citizens have the obligation to cooperate and assist competent authorities, organizations, and individuals in anti-corruption efforts.
