What is the minimum height requirement for men to participate in military service in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 3 Article 4 Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP stipulating health standards for military recruitment as follows:
- Select citizens with health grades 1, 2, and 3 according to the regulations in Joint Circular No. 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP dated June 30, 2016, by the Minister of Health - Minister of National Defense of Vietnam prescribing medical examinations for military service.
- For agencies, units, and positions specified in Point b, Clause 2 of this Article, recruitment shall be conducted to ensure specific standards as prescribed by the Ministry of National Defense.
- Do not conscript into the Army citizens with health grade 3 refractive errors (myopia of 1.5 diopters or more, hyperopia of all levels); drug addiction; HIV, AIDS infection.
According to Clause 4 Article 9 Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, classification is based on the scoring for 8 criteria recorded in the military service health card. To be specific:
- Grade 1: All 8 criteria score 1;
- Grade 2: At least 1 criterion scores 2;
- Grade 3: At least 1 criterion scores 3;
- Grade 4: At least 1 criterion scores 4;
- Grade 5: At least 1 criterion scores 5;
- Grade 6: At least 1 criterion scores 6.
In Section I, Appendix I issued with this Circular, it is stipulated as follows:
HEALTH GRADE | MALE | FEMALE
Height (cm) | Weight (kg) | Chest circumference (cm) | Height (cm) | Weight (kg)
1 | ≥ 163 | ≥ 51 | ≥ 81 | ≥ 154 | ≥ 48 |
2 | 160 - 162 | 47 - 50 | 78 - 80 | 152 - 153 | 44 - 47 |
3 | 157 - 159 | 43 - 46 | 75 - 77 | 150 - 151 | 42 - 43 |
4 | 155 - 156 | 41 - 42 | 73 - 74 | 148 - 149 | 40 - 41 |
5 | 153 - 154 | 40 | 71 - 72 | 147 | 38 - 39 |
6 | ≤ 152 | ≤ 39 | ≤ 70 | ≤ 146 | ≤ 37 |
Thus, according to the above regulation, individuals with a height of at least 157 cm, a weight of at least 43 kg, and a chest circumference of at least 75 cm meet the health standards for military service. Therefore, a height of 157 cm is sufficient to be eligible for military service.
Respectfully!
