What is an electronic chip-embedded passport?

Pursuant to Clause 4, Article 2 of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens 2019, it is stipulated:

A passport with an electronic chip is a passport embedded with an electronic device that stores encrypted information of the passport holder and the digital signature of the issuer.

And Clause 2, Article 6 of this Law also stipulates:

Passports with electronic chips or without electronic chips are issued to Vietnamese citizens who are 14 years of age or older. Passports without electronic chips are issued to Vietnamese citizens under 14 years of age or issued under simplified procedures.

Thus, passports with electronic chips are issued to Vietnamese citizens who are 14 years of age or older.
