What are the Rights and Obligations of Paternal Grandparents towards Grandchildren?
Pursuant to Article 104 of the Law on Marriage and Family 2014, the following provisions are outlined:
- Paternal and maternal grandparents have the rights and obligations to look after, care for, and educate their grandchildren, live in an exemplary manner, and set a good example for their descendants. In cases where the grandchildren are minors, or have reached majority but have lost civil act capacity or are unable to work and have no assets to support themselves and have no caregivers as stipulated in Article 105 of this Law, the paternal and maternal grandparents have the obligation to nurture their grandchildren.
- Grandchildren have the obligation to respect, care for, and support their paternal and maternal grandparents. In cases where the paternal and maternal grandparents do not have children to support them, the adult grandchildren have the obligation to provide such support.
The above are the regulations regarding the rights and obligations of paternal grandparents concerning their grandchildren under the law on marriage and family.
Respectfully!
