Pursuant to Section 1.1 Part 2 of the List of newly issued administrative procedures, amended and supplemented administrative procedures under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Security issued with the Decision 3191/QD-BCA in 2022 stipulating the composition of the dossier to report the loss of an regular passport as follows:

- How to perform:

+ Directly submit the application at the office of the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security.

+ Submit application via postal service.

+ Apply online through the National Public Service Portal or the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security.

- Components and quantity of documents:

+ Profile components:

- 01 application to report loss of regular passport (form TK05) issued together with Circular No. 73/2021/TT-BCA dated June 29, 2021 of the Ministry of Public Security; For children under 14 years old, people who have lost civil act capacity, or people with difficulty in cognition or behavior control who lose their passport, the passport loss report must be submitted by the father, mother or legal representative. In case of sending a lost report via postal service, the lost passport report must be confirmed by the Chief of Police of the ward, commune or town where the citizen is residing or where the lost passport is reported, confirming the writer's personal information.

- Documents proving parenthood or legal representative in cases of reporting lost passports for children under 14 years old, people who have lost civil act capacity, or people with difficulties in cognition and control.

- Processing time: 01 working day from the date of receipt of the report of loss of ordinary passport, the Immigration Department cancels the passport's validity and sends a notice of resolution of the report of lost passport. to the person submitting the application.

Thus, the processing time is 01 working day from the date of receiving the report of loss of regular passport. Dossier to report loss of ordinary passport at the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security includes the following papers:

For children under 14 years old, people who have lost civil act capacity, if a person has difficulty in understanding or controlling the act of losing his/her passport, the written report of loss of passport shall be filled in and signed by his/her father, mother or legal representative.

In case of sending a lost report via postal service, the lost passport report must be confirmed by the Chief of Police of the ward, commune or town where the citizen is residing or where the lost passport is reported, confirming the writer's personal information.

What is the validity of passports in Vietnam?

Pursuant to Article 7 of the Law on Entry and Exit of Vietnamese Citizens in 2019 stipulating validity of entry and exit documents as follows:

Validity of entry and exit documents

1. Diplomatic passports and service passports shall be effective from 1 to 5 years; can be extended no more than 3 years per instance.

2. Validity of regular passports is as follows:

a) Regular passports issued to persons from 14 years of age shall be effective for 10 years and shall not be extended;

b) Regular passports issued to persons under 14 years of age shall be effective for 05 years and shall not be extended;

c) Regular passports issued by shortened procedures shall be effective for no more than 12 months and shall not be extended.

3. Laissez-passers shall be effective for no more than 12 months and shall not be extended.

As regulations above, validity of passports in Vietnam is as follows:

- Diplomatic passports and service passports shall be effective from 1 to 5 years;

- Regular passports:
