Title: Is a Birth Certificate Required for Making a Passport for a Child?
Article 15 of the Law on Exit, Entry of Vietnamese Citizens 2019 stipulates the issuance of ordinary passports for children within the country as follows:
Documents required:
- Parents or guardians must fully fill out the application form;- 02 portrait photos;- Present a valid Identity Card, Citizen Identity Card, or Passport (of the person submitting the application);- A copy of the birth certificate or birth extract for persons under 14 years old;- Bring the original household register or a certified copy; temporary residence book if the household register is from another province.
Place of application submission: The first-time passport application should be submitted at the Immigration Management Agency of the Provincial Police where the permanent residence or temporary residence is located; in the case of having a Citizen Identity Card, it can be submitted at the Immigration Management Agency of the Provincial Police where it is convenient.
Thus, for the application for an ordinary passport for a person under 14 years old, a birth certificate is not required. Therefore, you can prepare the above documents to apply for a passport for your child.
