Title: If One Suffers from Severe Tinnitus, Is Military Service Required?
According to the provisions set forth in Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP, only citizens with health grades 1, 2, or 3 are selected for conscription according to the health classification standards stipulated in Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP.
Pursuant to the provisions of Clause 4, Article 9 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, the health classification is based on the scores assigned to 8 criteria listed on the military service health examination form. Specifically:
- Grade 1: All 8 criteria achieve score 1;- Grade 2: At least one criterion scores 2;- Grade 3: At least one criterion scores 3;- Grade 4: At least one criterion scores 4;- Grade 5: At least one criterion scores 5;- Grade 6: At least one criterion scores 6.
Regarding middle ear conditions that lead to a citizen not meeting the health conditions for military service, as stipulated at item number 33, Section II, Appendix 1 attached to Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, they include:
- Acute otitis media: 4T points;- Serous otitis media: 4T points;- Chronic otitis media, dry, clean tympanic cavity:+ Small or medium perforation of the tympanic membrane: 4 points;+ Large perforation of the tympanic membrane: 5 points;- Chronic otitis media with tympanic membrane perforation and mucus or pus discharge, level of perforation:+ Small or medium perforation: 5 points;+ Large perforation: 6 points;- Chronic otitis media with perforation and foul-smelling pus discharge (Cholesteatoma): 6 points.
Thus, among the middle ear conditions affecting the health standards for military service, tinnitus is not mentioned. However, the enumerated otitis media conditions listed above, if applicable to you, disqualify you from participating in military service.
Additionally, you should undergo a military service health examination for the most accurate conclusion.
Respectfully!
