Procedure for Registration of Acknowledgement of Parent-Child Relationship between Vietnamese Citizens

- Dossier: The requester for registration of father, mother, and child recognition submits:
- A declaration form according to the prescribed template;
- Documents from medical agencies, appraisal agencies, or other competent authorities in the country or abroad confirming the father-child, mother-child relationship.
- In case there are no documents specified in clause 1 of this Article, there must be letters, photos, tapes, disks, other items proving the father-child, mother-child relationship and a written commitment from the parents asserting that the child is their common child, with at least two of the parents' relatives as witnesses.
- In case there is no evidence proving the father, mother, and child relationship according to the provisions of clause 1 of this Article, the parties recognize the father, mother, child and make a written commitment about the father, mother, and child relationship according to the provisions of Article 5 of this Circular, with at least two people witnessing the father, mother, and child relationship.
Submission method: Submit the dossier directly.
Resolving Authority: The People’s Committee at the commune level where the person receiving or being received as father, mother, or child resides shall carry out the registration of father, mother, and child recognition.
Processing time: Within 03 working days from the date of receiving all required documents. If verification is needed, the time limit can be extended by no more than 05 working days.
Fees: Determined by the Provincial People's Council depending on the specific conditions and situation of the locality.
