Is Night Blindness a Disqualification for Military Service?
According to Clause 4, Article 9 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP regarding health classification criteria for military service enlistment:
- Type 1: All 8 criteria score 1;- Type 2: At least 1 criterion scores 2;- ....- Type 6: At least 1 criterion scores 6.
According to Appendix 1 on health classification based on physique and diseases issued with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP:
Pigment epithelial degeneration (night blindness): Scores 6.
And according to Point a, Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP, only citizens with health classifications of Type 1, 2, and 3 are selected for military service.
Therefore, if you have night blindness, your health classification is Type 6, which does not meet the health requirements for military service participation.
Respectfully!
