Is it possible to register death in a temporary residence in Vietnam?
if my father has just died, he's registered for temporary residence in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam and he resides permanently in Nha Trang, can I do the death registration procedure in Thanh Hoa for him?
According to Article 32 of the Civil Status Law 2014, the competence to register births in Vietnam is prescribed as follows:
Commune-level People's Committees of the last places of residence of deceased persons shall register their death. If the last place of residence of the deceased person cannot be identified, the commune-level People's Committee of the place where such person dies or his/her body is found shall register his/her death.
Thus, it can be seen that the commune-level People's Committees of the last place of residence of deceased persons in Vietnam. Therefore, the place of residence may be a permanent or temporary place of residence, currently the law does not prohibit the execution of death declaration procedures in the place of temporary residence. Therefore, you can do this procedure for your father in the temporary residence as above.
