Is altering information in the household registration book subject to penalties?
According to Clause 1, Article 1 of the amended Residence Law of 2013, altering or falsifying the contents of household registration books is a prohibited act.
Clause 2, Article 8 of Decree 167/2013/ND-CP stipulates penalties for violations of registration and residence management regulations: A fine ranging from VND 1,000,000 to VND 2,000,000 shall be imposed for one of the following acts:
Erasing, altering, or engaging in other acts that falsify the contents of household registration books, temporary residence registers, or other residency-related documents;
Additionally, Clause 5a of this Article further stipulates:
Requiring the recovery of household registration books, temporary residence registers, and other residency-related documents for acts specified in Point a, Clause 2; Point a, Clause 3 of this Article.
Therefore, unauthorized alterations to the information in household registration books are prohibited, subject to a fine ranging from VND 1,000,000 to VND 2,000,000, and will result in the recovery of the household registration books.
