Is Alteration of Information Content in Civil Registration Database Permissible?
Pursuant to Article 74 of the Civil Status Law 2014, the regulations regarding civil status officials are as follows:
- Abuse of power, authoritarianism, harassment, delay, causing difficulty, disturbance, accepting bribes when registering or managing civil status.
- Charging civil status fees higher than prescribed rates or imposing fees when registering civil status.
- Introducing procedures, documents, or intentionally prolonging the resolution time for civil status registration contrary to the provisions of this Law.
- Erasing, altering, or distorting the content of information in the Civil Status Database.
- Registering or issuing civil status documents contrary to the provisions of this Law.
- Disclosing information related to personal secrets obtained through civil status registration.
The above are the behaviors that civil status officials in the judiciary are prohibited from. Accordingly, civil status officials are not allowed to alter content in the civil status database.
