In Debt, Am I Allowed to Travel Far for Work to Repay the Debt?
Pursuant to Article 463 of the 2015 Civil Code, it is stipulated:
A loan contract of property is an agreement between parties, whereby the lender transfers property to the borrower; upon the due date, the borrower must return to the lender the property of the same type in the correct quantity, quality, and must pay interest if there is an agreement or as prescribed by law.
Thus, you have the obligation to repay both the principal and interest when the loan contract expires as prescribed by law. If after that time the parties do not agree to extend the repayment period and you still have not repaid the loan, you have breached the loan contract. Besides continuing to repay the loan amount, you must also be liable for any damage compensation if incurred. You are entirely permitted to leave your place of residence to work within the territory of Vietnam, or even abroad with the consent of the creditors to earn money to repay the aforementioned loan, as current law does not prohibit this.
Currently, there is no legal requirement to report to the police when going to work far to repay debts. However, to strengthen trust with the lenders, and to assert to the authorities and the people that you are not a fraud or using the trust to appropriate assets, it is advisable to report to the police before going to work far.
